The Grounds for Health Coffee Auction is back! Each year, the coffee community comes together to donate some truly exceptional coffees, with 100% of auction proceeds supporting cervical cancer prevention in coffee-growing communities.
What Grounds for Health does
Grounds for Health works alongside local health systems to bring screening and treatment to women in coffee-producing regions. Cervical cancer is highly preventable when women have access to care, and in many coffee-growing communities that access is still out of reach.
Why it matters to us
As longtime supporters of Grounds for Health, this is a cause especially close to us at Balzac. Our Director of Purchasing, Sam, currently serves as Chair of the Grounds for Health Board of Directors, and we're proud to once again be part of the auction.
The people who grow coffee are at the heart of our industry. Supporting their health is one of the most direct ways the coffee community can give back to them.
What we donated this year
We've donated some of our own favorite coffees to this year's auction, giving roasters the chance to score some great green coffee while supporting the communities at the heart of our industry:
- Colombia La Piragua Pink Bourbon Natural
- Costa Rica Tirra Natural
- Guatemala Ixlama
- Kenya AA Nyeri Hill Estate (Rainforest Alliance)
Become a Q Grader
This year we're also auctioning a seat in one of Traci Armstrong's SCA Q Grader courses in our Charleston lab. It's a great way to secure your seat, sharpen your coffee skills and support Grounds for Health at the same time.
Every bid helps, every lot supports Grounds for Health, and 100% of the proceeds go directly to the organization. Whether you bid on one of Balzac's lots or discover something new from another coffee company, we hope you'll take a look at the auction.
Missed the auction? You can support Grounds for Health any time of year at groundsforhealth.org. And read more about how our purchases support producer communities in How Fair Trade Coffee Premiums Work.
Thank you for supporting the people and communities behind coffee.
