Ordering & Accounts
Is there a minimum order?
No. We sell anything from a single bag to a full container. Shipping is most economical on a full pallet, which typically holds 10 bags.
What is the difference between a spot and a forward purchase?
Spot coffee comes from our current inventory and is available immediately, priced with the New York C-Market. A forward purchase lets you lock in an agreed price today for coffee that ships once it becomes available, so you can secure exactly what you need ahead of time.
How do I become a wholesale customer?
Take a look at our Customer Application + Resale Certificate, then send us a message and we will send the application to you through DocuSign.
What are your payment terms?
Your first 3 transactions with us are paid prior to delivery or acceptance of the coffee. Once a stable relationship has developed, extended credit may be offered based on positive trade references. We accept credit cards, cash, advance payment by check, cashier’s checks and wire transfers. We also accept free ACH debit payments through our Customer Portal. Invoices paid after the period in your sales contract incur late charges of 5 percent per month, and a $35.00 fee applies to returned checks or rejected ACH payments. See Ordering Information for full details.
How much does a bag of green coffee weigh?
Most bags weigh 60 to 70 kg depending on origin: 70 kg for Colombia and Bolivia, 69 kg for most of Central and South America, and 60 kg for Brazil, Indonesia, Africa and most decafs. Yemen bags are 50 kg and Hawaii bags are 100 lbs. See the full bag weight table.
Where can I see what you have in stock?
Wholesale partners can log in to the Customer Portal for live inventory, or contact our sales team for an up-to-date offerings sheet. You can also browse the stories behind our coffees on the Offerings page.
Shipping & Delivery
Where do you ship?
We ship anywhere in the United States and Canada through trusted shippers offering discounted bulk rates, and you are welcome to pick up your order directly from our warehouse. Roasters in the Pacific Northwest can also access select coffees we warehouse in the region through our partner Costa Oro.
How long does it take to process an order?
Please allow a minimum of 24 hours for your order to be processed.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Inspect your order immediately on arrival and note any damage on the delivery receipt before signing. All claims must be reported within 5 business days of receiving the coffee.
Samples
How do I request samples?
Use our sample request form, or reach out to your Green Coffee Advocate and include item numbers from our in-stock list. Every coffee on our Offerings page also has a Request a sample button.
What does a sample cost?
Samples are free, shipped by ground within the continental U.S. Expedited shipping and destinations outside the continental U.S. are available at cost.
How many samples can I request, and how large are they?
Green (unroasted) samples: up to 5 lots per request, 50 to 250 g per lot. Roasted samples: up to 4 lots per request, 50 to 100 g per lot. Please choose one format per request. Samples ship within 2 business days.
Can I get a larger sample?
Sometimes, so just ask. If you are planning a production test, talk with your Green Coffee Advocate about the best way to set it up.
Am I obligated to buy after sampling?
No. We do ask that sample requests reflect real purchase intent, and we always appreciate your feedback on what you tasted.
Do you include roast guidance?
Yes. Roasted samples come with notes on how we roasted them along with our cupping notes.
Do I need to sample a coffee I am reordering?
No. If you are reordering the same lot there is no need to sample again. If the lot number has changed, we will send a confirmation sample that does not count toward your request.
Can I get samples of coffee I have already contracted?
Sampling happens before you contract, not after, so we do not send samples of coffees already under contract. Pre-shipment samples on forward positions are arranged through origin.
Why can’t I get a sample of a certain lot?
Samples come from spot inventory with depth. Lots down to their last bags may not be available to sample, microlots and limited lots may be sent in reduced sizes, and all samples are subject to availability.
